Alissa Hunnicutt is originally from Iowa City, Iowa and now lives in NYC. She began studying puppetry with John Tartaglia in 2005 and is now the resident puppeteer at Mount Sinai Hospital’s KidZoneTV working both on-camera and leading puppet-building workshops.

She has been a featured participant at the O’Neill Puppetry Conference over several years where she has studied with Ron Binion, Richard Termine, Robert Smythe, Martin P. Robinson, Paul Mesner and Phillip Huber. She was also a featured performer at Great Small Works’ 8th International Toy Theater Festival in 2008 and the 9th International Toy Theater Festival in 2010 and the Banners & Cranks Festival in 2011.

Alissa’s puppet theater credits include playing Fritz, the gay terrorist, in “Die Hard the Puppet Musical,” all of the puppet characters in “Live Nude Girl,” Mustard the Dog in “The Tales of Custard the Dragon,” the feet of “Pinokenstein,” and “EGO,” Mick Jagger in "The Continuing Story of Carla Rhodes" a member of Cosmic Bicycle Theater’s “Edward Lear’s Absurd-Ditties” and the UNIMA Award-winning cast of Kevin Augustine's “BRIDE.”

Television puppetry experience includes playing Trixie the Rabbit in the pilot of “Boom Chicka Boom,” Ginger West Liberty for Princess Katie and Racer Steve’s “Revved Up & Ready To Rock! - Live Concert DVD,” a series of online videos for 14Hands Agency, and a music video for the song “The Whole World and You” by Tally Hall.

Alissa produced and performed in “A Puppet Music Thing” as part of the 2008 New York Musical Theatre Festival and is a regular at slams around the tri-state area. Her sold-out cabaret show of songs, patter and puppetry "The Kid Inside" debuted in March of 2010 and was presented as part of the 2010 Orlando Puppet Festival. Her next project, "Elements of Ophelia," is in pre-production.

In addition to being a puppeteer, Alissa is also an accomplished voiceover actor and singer with a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. You can often catch Alissa singing in the back of some bar in New York as a member of Opera on Tap.
